We will spend 8 weeks discussing this book on Wednesday evenings, 6:00pm to 7:15pm (Dec. 6th, 13th, 20th, January 3rd, 10th, 17th, 24th, 31st) in the Library. Please read the introduction and the first chapter, “Resident Policeman,” about 6 pages, for the opening night. Topics in the first half of the book will revolve around the many different roles that have been attributed to God and how they do not truly capture all that He must be to have created man and our universe; these are viewed as inadequate conceptions and destructive views for us to have of God. The second part of the book explores how we can find a truly meaningful and constructive God for ourselves, an adequate conception. (The book is divided into many short chapters capturing what God is not like and what He is like, our purpose for life, what sort of people God intends us to be, etc.)
